A pécsi Zsolnay Kulturális Negyedben megrendezett március végi jazz-hétvége egyik legjobb programjának bizonyult a svájci Septeto Internacional zenekar koncertje. A héttagú zenekar első ízben lépett színpadra Pécsett. Ráadásul még a szállásuk is a Zsolnay Negyed területén volt, így logikusnak tűnt, hogy ezzel kezdjük interjúnkat a zenekarvezető, Michael Fleinerrel.
HHH- Hogy tetszik nektek a városunk?
MF- Pécs nagyon szép. Nagyon örülünk, hogy megismerhettük a város történelmét, kulturális sokszínűségét és örökségét.
HHH- Hogy tetszik nektek a Zsolnay Negyed?
MF- Ez a kulturális negyed fantasztikus. A kiállítások csodálatosak, az épületek nagyon szépek. Remekül érezzük itt magunkat.
HHH- Beszéljünk az együttesről és a zenétekről! Alapvető követelmény a tagoktól a konzervatórium elvégzése?:-)
MF- Nem szükséges. Minden bandatag eltérő képzettséggel rendelkezik. Vannak autodidakták is. Van akinek klasszikus a diplomája, másoknak jazz, vagy latin zenei végzettségük van. A különböző iskoláknak köszönhetően változatos a zenénk, mert minden tag hozzáadja a saját stílusát. Ez leginkább az improvizációknál érzékelhető, amikor a szólók közben mindenki szabadon kiélheti magát.
HHH- Pontosan hogy írnád körül a zenéteket? Ez egy tipikus latin jazz, vagy valami speciális, csak Rátok jellemző képződmény?
MF- Olyan zenét szándékozom írni, amely sokféle igényt kielégít. Olyan emberekhez is szólok, akik szeretik elemezni a hallottakat, mint példának okáért a zenészek és a kritikusok. De azokat is szeretném megnyerni, akik egyszerűen csak élvezni akarják a muzsikát, táncolni rá, vagy csak utazni kívánnak a zenével, hogy elfeledjenek mindent, belépve a zene világába. De a kompozíciók felszíne mögött sok olyan ötlet van, melyek különböző zenei stílusokban gyökereznek: bátran merítünk a klasszikus zenéből, jazz-ből, kortárs zenéből, és a tradicionális és modern latin jazz-ből stb. De ezzel egyidejűleg az egészet áthatják a latin ritmusok: a danzón, a yambú, a csacsacsa, a timba vagy a songo. Ezek kombinálása adja a zeném eredetiségét. Leghőbb kívánságom aktívan részt venni a latin jazz és az afro-kubai zene fejlődésében. Ez csak egy álom, de szeretném valóra váltani.
HHH- Mit jelent a nevetek és honnan származik? Láttam az interneten, hogy több hasonló nevű csapat működik. Létezik egy speciális zenei stílus a Septeto Nacional, vagy a Septeto Internacional nevű zenekaroknál?
MF- A Septeto nevet több, tradicionális zenét játszó kubai zenekar is használja. Ez egy tipikus kubai formáció. A zenekarommal felhasználjuk a hagyományos kubai zenét is, de vannak benne más kortárs és modern zenei elemek is. És heten vagyunk: innen a Septeto. Az Internacional-t azért választottam, mert különböző nemzetiségűek, származásúak vagyunk, különféle tradíciókkal. A szerzeményeknek különböző hatásaik, stílusaik vannak. Ezért vagyunk mi Septeto Internacional.
HHH- Mely országokból származtok, és milyen hangszereken játszotok?
MF- Kuba, Svájc, Olaszország, Franciaország és Magyarország. Zongora, nagybőgő, alt- és tenorszaxofon, piszton, konga és dob-szet.
HHH- A zenekar zömében instrumentális zenét játszik?
MF- Szerzeményeimben régebben voltak kórusok, de két évvel ezelőtt végleg elhagytam őket. Így a repertoárunk most csak instrumentális muzsikákból áll.
HHH- Mik a hatásaid és kik a példaképeid?
MF- Nincs csupán egyetlen példaképem, de sok muzsikus volt és van hatással rám. Nem csak a kortársak közül, hanem az elmúlt századokból is. Pl. nagyon szeretem Johann Sebastian Bach muzsikáját, a kortársak közül pedig az olyan zenészekét, mint Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Chocho Valdés, Tony Pérez és mások adnak inspirációt nekem.
HHH- Állandó műsorotok van a turné során, vagy estéről estére változtatjátok a dalokat?
MF- Ugyanazt a programot adjuk minden este.
HHH- A negyedik albumotokat mutatjátok be ezen a turnén. Mi a különbség az új album és a régiek között?
MF- A dalokat 7/4-es és 5/4-es összetett ritmusokban írtam. A latin zene ezeket a ritmusokat nagyon–nagyon ritkán alkalmazza. Eddig még nem találtam ilyen 5/4-es zongora témát. Talán ez az első ilyen ritmusú darab. Van egy szám, ami a salsát ötvözi a merengével. Néha a két ritmus felülírja egymást. Az első lassabb, a második pedig gyorsabb. Ezt a zenei megoldást ozmózisnak, ún. ozmózis ritmusnak nevezik.
HHH- Eddig hány országban léptetek fel?
MF- Svájc, Kuba, Franciaország, Spanyolország.
HHH- Hallottál már az A38 állóhajóról? Ott lesz ugyanis a következő fellépésetek Budapesten. Említésre méltó, hogy ezt a klubot az elmúlt években két ízben is a világ legjobb koncerttermének választották.
MF- Nagyon kíváncsi vagyok a helyre. Puszta véletlenségből választottam ki, nem tudtam róla korábban semmit.
HHH- Jó koncertet kívánok Nektek és további sok sikert!
Entrevista con el grupo Septeto Internacional de Suiza
Fue unos de los mejores programas el concerto del grupo Septeto Internacional durante el fin de semana Jazz en el Barrio Cultural Zsolnay en el día 22 de marzo. Fue la primera performancia del grupo en Pécs y ellos tenían accomodación en el territorio del Barrio Zsolnay. Preguntamos el líder del grupo, Michael Fleiner:
• ¿Os gusta Pécs?
• Pecs es muy lindo. Estamos muy contento de haber podido conocer esta ciudad, su historio, su cambiamentos culturales, su patrimonio.
• ¿Os gusta el Barrio Cultural Zsolnay?
• Este Centro es fascinante! Nos encantó la exposición.
Los edificios son muy lindos. Nos sentimos muy bien acá.
• Hablamos un poco de vuestra música y vuestro grupo. ¿Es obligatorio para los miembro del grupo tener al mínimo una diploma de un Conservatorio?
• No. Los miembros del grupo tienen diferentes educaciones. Unos autodidactos. Otros con diploma clásico. Otros con diploma de música jazz. O con escuela de música latina. Todo esos diferentes caminos de estudios dan la variedad que cada músico trae al grupo. Porque cada miembro trae algo suyo. Eso se nota sobre todo en las partes de las improvisaciones, donde el solista se puede expresar
• ¿Qué tipo de música tocáís? ¿Es una música jazz típico o especial?
• Yo trato de componer música que interesa mucha gente de diferentes exigencias. Por ejemplo Gente que gusta analizar, por ejemplo los músicos, críticos de la música. Pero también escribo para gente que quiere gozar, bailar, o simplemente dejarse transportar con la música, olvidar todo y entrar en el mundo de la música.
Es importante que mis composiciones no suenen complicadas, que no parecen intelectual.
Pero detrás de las composiciones hay muchas ideas diferentes, que vienen de diferentes estilos: de la música clásica, del Jazz.; de la música contemporánea, música latina tradicional o moderna. Pero todo envuelto en ritmos latinos tradicionales, danzón, yambú, chachacha o modernos timba, songo. Esa combinación le da la originalidad de mi música.
Mi más grande deseo es, poder participar activamente en el desarrollo de la música latín jazz y afro cubana. Es un deseo, espero poder realizarlo.
• ¿De dónde es vuestro nombre y qué quiere decirlo? He visto en el Internet que hay varios grupos con el nombre similar. ¿Hay un estilo típico para estos grupos con el nombre Septeto Nacional o Septeto Internacional?
• Septeto es un nombre que utilizan diferentes grupos de música tradicional cubana, son cubano. Es una formación cubana tradicional. Con mi grupo utilizamos también música tradicional cubana pero mezclado con elementos modernos y contemporáneas. Y somos 7 músicos. Por eso escogí SEPTETO. internacional escogí por lo que somos de diferentes naciones, diferentes origines, diferentes tradiciones,
Y la composiciones tienen también diferentes influencias, diferentes estilos,… Por eso Septeto Internacional
• Yo sé que soís siete en el grupo. ¿De que paises soís y que instrumentos tocaís? Which countries are you from and what instruments do you play?
• Cuba, Suiza, Italia, Francia, Hungría
• ¿Vosotros siempre habéís tocado música instrumental?
• Antes mis composiciones tenían coros que cantamos nosotros, pero hace 2 años dejé los coros. El repertorio es ahora solamente instrumental
• ¿Qué son vuestros efectos musicales y quiénes son vuestros musicantes preferidos?
• No tengo un ídolo pero hay muchos músicos que me inspiran. No solamente de este siglo pero también de los siglos pasados. Johann Sebastián Bach me gusta muchísimo. Músicos como Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Chucho Valdés, Tony Pérez, y otros me han inspirado.
• Teneís un programa de concierto estabil durante el tourneé o tocaís el mismo programa día por día ?
• Nosotros tocamos siempre el mismo repertorio.
• Vosotros demostraís vuestro quarto disco ahora. ¿Qué es la diferencia entre el disco nuevo y los discos pasados?
• En Los últimos temas que escribí utilizo métricas compuestas 7/4 y 5/4. En la música latina se utiliza muy muy raras veces esos ritmos. No he encontrado aun un tema en 5/4 con los montunos típicos de piano. Tal vez es el primer tema con semejante rítmica.
Hay un tema que cambia entre Salsa y Merengue. Ha veces se superponen los dos ritmos. Una rápido y el otro mas lento. Un efecto de ósmosis. Se llama OSMOSIS RÍTMICA. Los otros temas inéditos son parecidos que los anteriores en las ideas.
• ¿En cuántos paises habeís tocado hasta ahora?
• En Suiza, Cuba, Francia y España.
• ¿Habeís oído del barco A38 en Budapest? Este barco no se mueve, esta siempre al puente Petőfi en el Danubio, y hay una aula de conciertos por dentro. Esa fue elegido ya dos veces por la aula de conciertos mejor del mundo en los últimos años.
• Estoy muy curioso de descubrir este sitio! Fue por pura casualidad que encontré este lugar. No sabía que tipo de sitio era.
• Qué os vaya bien en Budapest y tengaís un buen concierto en el barco!
Interview with the group Septeto Internacional from Switzerland
There was one of the best programs the concert of the group Septeto Internacional in the Jazz Weekend 2013 in Pécs on the 22nd of March in the Zsolnay Cultural Quarter. It was the band’s first performance in Pécs, they had got their accommodation in the territory of the Zsolnay Quarter. We asked the group-leader, Michael Fleiner:
Hetedhéthatár: • Do you like Pécs?
Michael Fleiner: • Pécs is very nice. We are very happy that we could know the city, its histroy, its cultural diversity and its heritage.
HHH: • Do you like the Zsolnay Quarter?
M.F.: • This quarter is fantastic. The exhibitions were wonderful. The building are very nice. We have a very good time here.
HHH: • Let’s speak about your group and about your music. It is obligatory for the members of the group to have a music-diplom of a Conservatorium?
M.F.: • No, they don’t. Every single member of the group has got different educations. There are autodidacts, as well. There are some people with a classic diplome. Some people have a diplome of jazz music or a school of Latin music. These different educations give the variability of the music of the group, because every member brings his own style. This can be noticed at the improvisations when everybody can express himself by the soli.
HHH: • What kind of a music do you play, it is a tipical latin jazz or a special one?
M.F.: • I intend to compose music which is interesting for a lot of people with different pretensions, for people who like to analyse, for ecxample for musicians or music-critics, as well. But I write music for people who would like to enjoy it and dance or simply trip during the listening to the music, to forget all and enter into the world of the music.
I don’ t want the audience seem too too difficult and intellectual my compostions. But behind the surface of the compositions there are a lot of different ideas, which come from different music styles: from the classical music, from the jazz, the contemporary music, traditional and modern Jazz music etc. But in the same time everything is covered with traditional Latin rhythms: danzón, yambú, chachacha, timba or songo. This combinations give the originality of my music.
My greatest wish I would like to participate active at the development of the Latin jazz and the Afro-Cuban music. It is just a wish, but I would like to realize it.
HHH: • What does your name significate and where do you have your name from? I have seen in the internet, that there are more groups with similar names, does it exist a special music-style for these bands with the names of Septeto Nacional, or Septeto Internacional?
M.F.: • Septeto is a name that is used by several groups who play traditional music in Cuba. It is a tipical Cuban formation. We use with my group the traditional Cuabn music, too, but there are other elements of the contemporary and modern music in it. And we are seven. It is the reason of SEPTETO. I chose INTERNACIONAL because we have got different nationalities, different origins, different traditions. And the compositions have different influencies, different styles… That’s why we are Septeto Internacional.
HHH: • Which countries are you from and what instruments do you play?
M.F.: • Cuba, Switzeland, Italy, France,Hungary.
HHH: • Have you been playing mainly instrumental music since the existence of the group?
M.F.: • My compostitons had choirs before, but I left the choirs two years ago. So our repertoire contains only instrumental songs now.
HHH: • Which are your musical effects or idols?
M.F.: • I have not got only one idol, but there are a lot of musicians who inspire me. Not only from this century, but from the last centuries, as well. For example I admire Johann Sebastian Bach. Musicians as Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Chucho Valdés, Tony Pérez, and others have inspired me.
HHH: • Do you have a standard concert-program during the tour or do you vary the songs evening for evening?
M.F.: • We play the same program every evening.
HHH: • You’re presenting your fourth album on this tour. What is the difference between the new album and the last ones?
M.F.: • The songs I have written ultimately contain complex metrics 7/4 and 5/4. In the Latin music these metrics are used very-very rarely. I haven’t found a tipical piano theme in 5/4 yet. Maybe it is the first theme with this metric. There is a theme that changes between Salsa and Merengue. Sometimes the two rhythms are overputting each other. The first one is a slower one, the second one is a faster one. It is an effect of osmosis, it is called OSMOSIS METRIC. The new material is similar to the old ones when we are speaking about the ideas and the background.
HHH: • In how many countries have you had performances?
M.F.: • Switzerland, Cuba, France, Spain.
HHH: • Have you ever heard from the standing ship A38? It will be your next concert hall in Budapest, and it was chosen for the best concert hall in the world in the last two years.
M.F.: • I am very curious to discover that place! It was mere chance that I had found that place, I didn’t know anything about it before.
HHH: • I wish you a good concert and a big further successes!
